Dimension always dfaulting to one layer.

I set up a template and the dimensions always default to a certain layer. Even when they should default to the current layer. This layer does not even exist in my template. But when I snap a dimension, this default later is created. I just want the dimensions to be created in the current layer. I do not know how to fix this.

Set DIMLAYER to "." (a period).
