Different scale in AutoCAD 2010 and 2014.

I exported a DWG from sketchup, for version AutoCAD 2010.

When i open it in my office with 2014 the scale is correct. But when i send it to a colleague with verion 2010 the scale is different.

Any ideas why this happens?

Thanks.

Hi,

>> But when i send it to a colleague with verion 2010 the scale is different

Did he insert or open the DWG?

How did he verify that it is scaled wrong?

Can you describe "different", what does it mean in detail?

I'm a little bit surprised about the naming "scale", because an object in a drawing has should always be drawn 1:1 and a scale can be used for plotting, but not for drawing the part itself ... or do you mean UNITS that are wrong/different then?

He opened it in 2010. You are probably riight. Im not so used to the program. But its probably the UNITS that differs.

We measured the same length and it was very different. How do we set our units to be the same?

Thank you.

Hi,

>> We measured the same length and it was very different

Really? Can't believe it ... as long as there are no tools/utilities installed.

Well, try the following steps:

1) open the drawing

2) start command _UNITS and make sure that you have set the same setting for "Length ==> Type"

3) set osnap to just use ENDPOINT (either with the dialog or by setting the sysvar OSMODE to 1)

4) start command _DIST and verify that you both select the same endpoints on your geometry

If the result really differs then please upload that drawing + let us know, what points you selected and what distances you got (copy the last 4 lines from the command-area into the answer here, from both of you).

Good luck, - alfred -
