Diamond grip on labels is gone

The diamond grip to slide line and curve labels doesn't show anymore.  When i try to move the label it only shows the text grip and moved the text away from the line while the leader is tied to the middle of the line.  How do i get my diamond grips back?

I guess your taking about the missing ruler for the text?

click on the "ruler" on the text editor which will enable the ruler.

I just want to slide the label up and down the lines that I have and the diamond grip I use to do that is gone now. I'm not trying to measure anything

Have you tried restarting Civil 3D yet?
