A while ago I found out you can deselect something from your current selection set by holding down the shift key and clicking on it. This was a pretty useful tool...but then it randomly stopped working today for me. Any ideas as to why this might have happened?

Hi,
verify the PICKADD variable, is it set to 2 or another value.
Also interesting might be if you have Map3D or Civil3D, because then you have a command _MAPIOPTIONS and in the dialog ==> 2nd tab you also have a option for how <Shift><Click> works.

Checked the PICKADD variable--it was set to 1 and I changed it to 2, which didn't solve the problem.
I actually am using Civil 3D and I tried pulling up that dialog but I can't find the option you're talking about. What are the texts for the tab and for the option?

Thanks rkmcswain! It turned out changing things in MAPIOPTIONS (which is different from MAPOPTIONS, which is what I mistakenly read the command Alfred posted as, which explains my previous confusion, BTW) didn't do anything to help, but turning the "Shift+Left click image select" option off in IOPTIONS did the trick for me.

It is indeed the IOPTIONS.... well that works for me...

This worked for me too! Thanks

Worked for me too, with the caveat that the command is now "IOPTIONS" and not "MAPIOPTIONS." Thanks for the help, rkmcswain!

@Anonymous - when I type in IOPTIONS, the command line changes it to MAPIOPTIONS, which is still documented.

I have raster and tried the IOPTIONS and it didn't work.

Currently working in AutoCAD 2023, with Raster Design installed. C3D 2023 installed but not open.
IOPTIONS works for me (Raster Design perhaps?), but MAPIOPTIONS does not (Civil 3D perhaps?).
Either way, I'm glad for this post.

I just had the same issue. I found out that I had an image on a turned off layer that's causing issues with deselecting objects.

Thank you for this. I tried the MAPIOPTION and it didn't work. Using just IOPTION, it worked.
