Default Text Style

I have a default drawing file with my normal layout etc. that I import into every new project I do. I'm having a problem in that the default text style just not import correctly. The name imports into the new drawing but the Font name and width factor do not import. I'm not sure if it makes a different app this is a non-Annotative font size if that makes a difference.

Also, affect go ahead and change the font name and width factors in the new drawing and close and reopen it the font name is still there but the font width is again reset to 1.0 even though I changed it initially to 0.5.

I'm using AutoCAD 2015 if that makes any difference.

That only happens if the name of the text style in the file already exists and is predefined as something else. That's basic AutoCAD 101 rule of thumb to never forget, it also applies to blocks and everything else in the destination file.

It is best practice if you INSERT the other file into your perfectly set up template file then SAVEAS.

BTW: you don't still call everything you critically need for yourself "STANDARD" by chance?

Hi,

Which version exactly? Can you please show a screenshot of command/dialog _ABOUT?

Maybe interesting too: do you have any applications/plugins running on top of AutoCAD?

I think what you want is your STANDARD text in your customized setup drawing to co-exist with the STANDARD text in your new drawing. This co-existence of two text styles with the same name, STANDARD, is not permitted by AutoCad. The new style, your customized text that you want to import, must have a different name. You can name your customized text style MyFavTextStyle, Standard-Cust-Text, or whatever other name you want, but not 'Standard,' that text style name is already taken.

That's what was happening. I had a another font style saved that had the same font and settings I don't know when or why I ever created it but I did. I deleted it and it now looks like everything is working fine.

Thanks for the help,

Mark

Thanks for the additional ideas although the post previous years solved the problem. I've attached my version information for your reference anyway.

This does not answer the question why you save a dwg-file with a text-style with font width set to 0.5 and when you open the file it's settings was not saved.

Yes, the width is still changing. I did notice that earlier but I just tried it and it doesn't reset to a width of 1.000. Any ideas what could be causing the?

Hi,

So it is working well now?

>> Any ideas what could be causing the?

A defect file (command _AUDIT to check)

A plugin installed or some customization in ACAD.LSP or so
