Data link Table Scale

Hi all,

Spent a whole day but didn't figure it out, so I am referring to the community.

I have a excel sheet linked through data link to autocad drawing.

When I insert table from data link in model space, the table is too big, so I scaled it.

The problem is that row and column headings do not scale with table (look attached jpeg)

Everything works just fine but It is when I select table  that huge font just bothers me.

It is a bug or the bug is me? 🙂

Thank you all for your precious answers!

Hi @krkec,

My linked table doesn't do this. What version of Excel are you using and AutoCAD 15 (sp1?).

Would you like to attach your drawing and xls file so I can take a look?

I inserted a table (from a datalink) that was rather large. I scaled it to .1 of original size and my labels look fine.

Hi, i have attached dwg (autocad 2012) and xlsx (MS Office 2010) file.

I have tested this combination on a machine with acad 2016 with same result (issue).

I think it can be an office problem.

Thank you for your kind response.

BR Matej.

Hi @krkec,

While I can duplicate this behavior, I find that when I insert the table into PAPERSPACE it does not occur. Perhaps this is a viable workaround for you.

Hi @john.vellek

I can confirm that in PS works like a charm, but I need my table in MS beside my drawing because I need to see results immediately after refreshing Data link. If only tables like txt and dims were annotative all this wouldn't bother me never again.... (little wish for future versions)

BTW I've never figured it out what/which variable or setting defines size of data linked table? And Yes, Tables without data link can be scaled without returning this issue...

Thank you anyway, have a nice day!

HI @krkec,

The scale of the OLE object is designed to mimic the text size of the text in the external application.

Now, in Modelspace if I zoom into a tiny area and insert a table using the datalink the header rows are scaling properly.

I will keep looking into this to see if there is a way to get more control of the table insertion size.

Hi @john.vellek

Just FYI, I have inserted same data link (excel) table in a brand new file and figure out that inserted table was 20 times smaller.

I used unmodified standard style for table (in previous case a have played with fonts ecc).

So, the result is that when I scale up the table the problem doesn't show up, but when I try to scale down the problem persists.

I have solved the problem for now but just to keep in mind that thing isn't working as expected.

I'll try to play with font style ecc...  in excel and if I find out something usable I'll horn :).

Hi,

I have a similar problem. The linked table is too big.

If I scale my table to 0.1, aparently solves the problem. But if i update excel data, the table returns to original the size.

Best regards,
orlando

I have a similar problem and it is the second times that happens with two different files and a gap of 3 months between the events.

I have my excel table included on AutoCAD as a special paste with data link connection. (so when i update the excel, automatically updates the AutoCAD too).

For the second time is happening that when i plot, some of the tables doesn't appears on the pdf.

And always when i open the AutoCAD file tells me that have been errors, that the file was regenerated, and the tables that are with problem despair again.

I already audit, regenerate, recover, purge, insert again the tables, created a new view port, create a new excel file, deleted all xref/ data link of the tables and insert again... And the problem keeps unsolved and happening.
