Data link table does not insert into .dwg

I am trying to insert a table using a data link in AUTOCAD 2016. I typed in "table" command, choose the insert option from a data link. I click OK to insert the table and after a few seconds of thinking ACAD sits there with no table on the screen.  When I look in XREFs, the DL is there but says it is unrefrenced. It was working before, but somehow something was missed or replaced, I guess it might be I installed the AutoCAD Map 3D 2017.

Thank you for all your help.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have several versions of product installed yet I am still able to use this feature. Is it possible to attach your files to a post or send them to me privately at john.vellek@autodesk.com?

I would like to see if I can determine what is failing in this operation.

Have you applied the Service Pack and hotfixes from here?

HI @Anonymous,

You might try a Reset Settings to Default to see if that corrects the error.

[EDIT}

There appears to be something wrong with the DATALINK. I opened your file in 2016 and looked at the Xref Manger which showed the link but it would not let me reset the path or delete the link. I went into DATALINK, deleted the existing one and added a new one back in. This inserted the table just fine.

Hi @Anonymous,

You indicated to me that a Reset did not correct the problem. You also showed me that in XREF manager that you could not adjust the path of the DATALINK.

I suggest using Datalink to remove the link and recreate it.

What is different between your workstation and your teammates? They have 2017 and you have 206 but that shouldn’t matter.

Different operating system? Different version of Excel? Different User permissions?

Have you tried putting the Excel file in the same location as the drawing file so you don't have to set a path?

If one of your coworkers logs onto your machine does the Datalink work properly for them?

Hi John,

when my co-workers insert the same table works for them just fine, I still think might be the root documents or code or attribution changed or replaced by Autocad 3D map. but i dont know where/what root documents associated with data link that i can have them recoverd.

thank you for all your help.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry but you just mentioned Map 3D.  Did you put that in here before and I missed it?

Please answer my questions  about differences between your computer and your teammates. Also let me know if they can logon and yuse your workstation properly.

Where did AutoCAD Map 3D come into the mix? What part of the wokrkflow is involved?
