data extraction generating wrong result

Hi,

I work in the curtainwall industry where I have to keep track of thousands of parts and the designation of these parts to specific curtainwall frame.

I have created  blocks with attributes to represent the individual part of the frame.

with in the block there are 3 fields:

  1. Tag-No: represent the part name
  2. Frame-No: represent the name of the frame the part is located. This field is populated with "file name" (%<\AcVar Filename \f "%fn2">%).
  3. Frame-qty: quantity of frame required.

I have attached a typical frame drawing that I would use to do my project. Keep in mind that in a project I could have from 50 to 200 different frames and with in these frames I could have between 10 to 70 different parts. When I do a data extraction of the project to generate a Bill of material of the project in an excel sheet with 3 columns.

column:

  1. part no
  2. Number of occurance of part per frame drawing.
  3. frame no
  4. frame qty

This will produce a spread sheet shows all the parts required for the project and the frame it belongs to.

This proceedure worked find with autocad 2012 and earlier version but autocad 2013+ have been generating inconsistant data. Mainly with the "frame no" not showing the correct reading. Sometime it would show data from a different column and sometime it is shown a different file name and sometime it will show a the name of a file that i had open previously and not part of the data extraction folder.

In the screen shot shows a file name that is not part of the extraction but this file was opened previously and was closed prior to the data extraction.

Any help or explaination is greatly apprieciated.

Thank you.

Try running through Enhanced Attribute Editor.

Actually, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Looks fine in excel. Are you re-importing the data back into AutoCAD and Regenerating it?

You use the same desktop background as I do Smiley Surprised

only extracting from autocad.

as you can see from the screen shot of my excel sheet. The Highlighted M01-16 is a file name that is not part of the data extraction file.

the attribute blocks are created using enhanced attribute editor.

I've tried using a third part lisp to extract the information and still producing the wrong result.
