Custom Linetypes UCS

Anonymous
Not applicable

I created a linetype which has a specific UCS (and it works in the dwg that I created it in) but when I use it in my main drawing, the UCS does not behave the same as the way it is created.

I attached some images to show you what I mean.

Is there any way to force the linetype to have a specific UCS so the "tick" mark shows on a particular side of the line?

For some reason, when I draw the newly created linetype in my main drawing, the UCS does not stay the way I want it, and it flips to the way is wants to...

I don't believe a linetype can "ha[ve] a specific UCS."  It will sit in the current UCS when it's drawn, in accordance with the way it's defined.

If you want the side-ticks on the other side of a given Line, you can REVERSE the Line.  You don't provide the linetype definition, but if you always want them on a particular side of the main "path," you can define the linetype with a  U=  rotation designation, rather than a  R=  designation [or rather than no  Rotation designation -- if there isn't one, it's equivalent to R=0.0].  Read about it in Help for Customization / Linetypes; see the "Related concepts" entries about Text or Shapes in custom linetypes.

I found a sort of solution, but maybe someone can tell me a better way.

I created two separate linetypes, the first one has the "I" tick mark justified to the bottom center.  The second linetype has the "I" tick mark on the bottom center.  It seems to work if I interchange between the two different linetypes.  But maybe there is a better way?
