Custom hatch pattern - can this be done?

Hi everyone,

I'd like to create a custom hatch pattern, but I think this specific pattern is impossible to code.

Anyway, here it is:

Wojty1_0-1749642177938.png

As you can see the pattern should be defined with horizontal lines from bottom to top and 2 slant lines (one from bottom left to middle top, another one from bottom right to middle top)

The horizontal lines are repeated with an offset defined later in the hatch settings.

The big deal will be the slant lines. As I know the hatch pattern syntax, this is impossible.

This pattern should be used to visualize a staircase and its ascent direction.

Can this still be done?

If not, what would be the best approach? An ARRAY? A BLOCK?

You can't do that as a hatch without a custom shape file that is all of that: then you have scaling issues too.

Are you just looking for a DYNAMIC BLOCK of a STAIR instead? Ask in the Dynamic Blocks Forum over HERE for help creating one, remember to share a mockup in a DWG file over here.

I'd go with a Shapefile. If it's a repeating pattern you might try Superhatch in Express Tools. That's a little difficult to work with but might be done.

If the stair is always a similar size you might be able to modify the below to suit but as noted the lack of xy scaling is what would probably make a block the better solution.

I wasn't allowed to attach the hatch file but you can paste the below into notepad and save as .pat.

*STAIR, STAIR
0, 0,0, 0,200
75, 0,0, 0,2000,1738,-1000
105, 900,000, 1300,1000, 1738,-1000
