creating nice layouts

Hello Everyone,

I been using autocad for quite a long time . I have done All my drawings in model space

and have never used the layouts tabs. I am attaching a drawing from Autocad sample files and

I kindly ask advice about the layout used.

Please open the attachment and look at the layout on the layout tad. It is very nice with the drawing

in blocks and the detail down the right hand side.

I am asking someone to please tell me how to create a template for a layout like this?

I hope someone can give me some guidelines

Nothing attached, but if it's an AutoCAD sample (shipped and installed with AutoCAD), then just let us know the filename.

Usage of layouts is a half to full day training, starting with paper-formats, viewports, viewport scales, layer control in viewports up to viewbase objects. This can not be written down here with 3 or 4 sentences.

I strongly recommend to look for a class to get a training or look to videos, there exist a lot ... to get introduced to the whole thing.

I'm interested in the ultimate goal.
If a person worked all his life only in the Model, then perhaps it will be too difficult.
And if the transition is needed for only one simple action, it is easier to leave it as it is.

I agree with what everybody is saying.

It is a major transition to go from model space to layouts in paper space.

However, in my opinion, it is well worth the effort.

As my parts are developed and I want to keep them on file i would like them to

be on a nice background with all the normal references and dates etc on the printout
