Creating new linetypes using Express tools

I've created a new linetype with the use of Make linetype and Make shape of the Express tools which is the easiest way to do it. It work just fine but I've noticed that this new linetype just works on that file and if I want to use it in another file I have to create it again. I don't know if I'm using the tool correctly or if I'm saving the .shp and .lin files in the right folder.

I've tried copying the information of the newly created .lin file into the acadiso.lin but it doesn't work, maybe because  of the .shp file location or I don't know.

Is there a way to make a linetype with express tools and make it permanent to be able to use it in another file?

1. Use this file as a template.
or
2. Use this file as an "insert" into other files to bring in it's content.

Linetype are stored in the drawing, but since you added it to acadiso.lin, you should be able to load it into any iso drawing using the LINETYPE command.

Other methods for reusing custom linetype:

Drag/drop or copy/paste an object using the linetype into another drawing

Drag a line using that linetype onto the Tool Palette

Use Design Center to transfer Linetypes between drawings

If this is a linetype you will use frequently, use one of the methods above to add it to your template file.

Yes, since I've stored the linetype in the acadiso.lin file it always appear using the Linetype command, but the problem is that in the linetype I've created there is a shape and since I don't know where to store them correctly, when I load the line I've created it appears as a Continous Line.

A shape requires a shape-file to also be available and loaded (or in the AutoCAD search paths): these have the exrtension SHP or SHX (not to be confused with font files shx). Having the linetype code alone is not enough, and as far as I know the Express Tool you use does not generate a shape file.
