Creating blocks with text

Good afternoon,

I am very new on the blocks creation (Well in Autocad too) and I could use some help here 🙂

I created a block for a camera, it's just a square and a triangle, on the middle of the square I put the letter C.

Now, I have some issues that I don't know how to solve and the videos in YouTube that I have found so far doesn't explain how to solve.

1) Each time I rotate the block the letter C is rotating too. So, in some point (180 deg) the letter is backwards. How can I keep the letter always on the same position or orientation no matter if I rotate the block?

2)I saw in a video that when you add a block it could add the layer it belongs to the drawing. How can I associate my block to a layer so when I insert the block in a new drawing it creates the layer it belongs?

3) How can I add a label to my block that changes automatically each time I add it to my drawing(cam-1, cam-2, etc...)?

I think that the best help would be a very good tutorial of how to create blocks (level advance :)) that covers everything on this subject from scratch.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for you time and willingness to help.

1) dynamic blocks do this, but not with "text", you nee to use an Attribute https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/dynamic-blocks-forum/rotating-dynamic-block-with-fixed-attribute-orie...

2) You will need to automate the block's placement in a specific layer either by fully using TOOLPALETTES custom abilities or manually making that change, or use LISP. There is no automagical option where it just happens all by itself really.

3) You will need to use a 3rd party tool or LISP customization for that ability, nothing built-in does that. Try this freebie at the Autodesk App Store https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Detail/Index?id=8051485828049059617&appLang=en&os=Win32_64
