Creating a New Postscript Plotter on Mac *FINALS DUE PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.1

Hi,

I am aware of the wonderfully handy "Add-A-Plotter" Wizard on Windows versions of AutoCAD. However, I am working at home on my Mac, and I need to be able to finish it away from class.

I need to add a Postscript plotter to my Mac so that I can convert my .dwg to an .eps to bring it into Illustrator. Then, I will make slight border adjustments, and save as a native .ai file. From there, I will open that .ai within Acrobat Reader and save as a .pdf for digital portfolio submission.

I know that you can export as a postscript file directly from AutoCAD, but it isn't working properly and I am not getting any help from past posts on the topic as most are old. I am also aware that you can, in several ways, plot .dwg straight to .pdf on Mac, however the assignment requires we transfer the .dwg as an .eps into Illustrator so that it transfers all of the points, objects & information into AI. (We are using Live Paint Bucket in AI with the .eps file in order to use color in various areas of the drawing.)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hi I was wondering if you ever figured your problem out. I have been doing the same thing exactly the way you want to do it, and when I upgraded to El Capitan, I was nolonger able to live paint the postscript in illustrator as I was previously on the previous OSX. (Yosemite I think) I've also found very little relating to this online, but am thinking it has to do with El Capitan.

Any HELP??

Actually, no... No one has replied to me. I ended up having to SKIP studio and sneak in the **** lab where another revit class was being held and plot everything there on the PC's.

I passed though.

I didn't think about it being a problem with the OS. I have never attempted this prior to my updating to El Capitan. I wonder if what we're trying to do, wether on a Mac or PC, is like a "back door" or something that isn't technically supposed to be done (mixing softwares and converting such files to be workable in another software) not that it's illegal or anything but I'm saying if I could call AutoDesk or something, would they try to help or would they say "we don't work with Adobe systems and we can't help you try to"

Strange. I'd love to hear if you find out anything else... Certainly I'm not the only one.
