Create a stand-alone table from Xcel without an OLE or Data Link

I need to create a table from data in an Excel spreadsheet. However, I don't want to use a Data Link or OLE - the table on my drawing has to be a stand-alone version that can be changed and edited without depending on the original spreadsheet. Our customer has made it clear they don't want any external links.

Can that be done?

Thanks.

Yes.

Copy the range of cells in your XLS. Paste as table (which should be "Paste Special" option) into your DWG.

Sure, draw it 😉

Or use CTRL+C (you excel cells)

and PASTESPEC <AutoCAD Objects>

I don't know why you say NO OLE, i guess the important point is NO External Links??

Perhaps the are missing informations about OLE

That creates a link to the external spreadsheet, which the customer doesn't want.

I tried that but the data can't be edited.

About your both last answers: you did something wrong.

Upload a sample xls(x) and your result (*.dwg file),

"That creates a link to the external spreadsheet..."

Not for me, it doesn't. Apparently we're doing different things.

When pasting, select Paste Special (I do it from the Edit menu) and paste as AutoCAD entities. (When I just did this, it doesn't create an actual TABLE entity; it creates lines and text. So I'm correcting myself.)

Using the "paste as entities" option worked.

Thanks!

Good news. (Now go ask for a raise. 😉)
