Copyclip for a line pastes all dimstyles

Hi!

Since a while I have the problem that when I copy simple objects (line, circle,...) that every dimensionstyle and textstyle from the original file is also pastet in the target file.

Of course I can purge the drawing, but sometimes I have 3rd party add-ins where it is not that easy to purge the elements.

This problem even occurs when I open a file from the original acad.dwt, make a new dimstyle, draw a line and copy this line into any other drawing.

Reinstalling AutoCad (2020 and 2021) did not solve the problem.

Maybe someone has any ideas?

Thanks, Stefan

Not all. just the current dimstyle.

Thats usual and you can not change it. (If no dimstyle present in target file with the same name, Acad imports the current dimstyle from the sourcefile.

When I set dimstyle to "standard" in the source file and copy the line to target file, also the dimstyle "test" occurs in the target file.

When i make more dimstyles, they are all copied.

Sorry, you are right, my fail. (this was about Styles, not Dimstyles)

But: This doesn't change the situation, it is what it is!

The Clipboard functions creates a DWG file with your selected objects

and all needed other stuff (layers, tablestyles, whatever) + more , like dimstyles

In case of dimstyle the DWg contains all dimstyles and so you paste all dimstyles to your target file.

For usual it isn't a problem, the last button in drawing session is the 'clean, zoom, and, save' button

to get rid of them.

If you like, create a button for PASTE&PURGE

But why

okay, thanks.

If I remember right, it hasn't been like that some time ago...

however, as I mentioned before we have a add-in, of which the styles are not that easy to purge.
But if there is no other way, we'll have to purge these manually when the drawing is finished...

Thanks for your help 😊

some time = more or less than 20 Years?

I think it was the same all the time, because windows clipbord functions works this way.

Feel free to share a sample file with "unused" dimstyle of your add in,

perhaps we can help

Turn off PICKADD and PICKFIRST variables for an hour to test only and see if your problem magically disappears.

good question, maybe about 10 years 😅 but actually i didn't real observe this...

the add-in (soficad for reinforcement) works with a database, so it's not the dimstyle but the style of a reinforcement mesh. since about a month it appears that the database somehow gets mixed from different drawings. a request to the provider of the add-in is running, so I don't want you to waste time on that 😉

unfortunately no magic, but I've got headache now 😂

meanwhile I found out that if I copy the line from drawing 01 to drawing 02, and then copy it from drawing 02 to drawing 03, that the dimstyles are transferred from 01 to 02, but not from 02 to 03 🙈

sometimes autocad seems to be a bit strange...

Oh yeah, that's all about your loaded proxy tools tagging along from your DWG1.
Not much you can do about it unless you want to get rid of them in your source file first (nd your proxy objects/regapps). See attached.

Looks like you will just need to bear with it since you need all of those tools.

I tried to purge the regapps, the result is the same.

even if I have a completely clean and purged dwg (as far as I can say that it is clean), i make a new dimstyle and it is copied with the line.

And some of the regapps reappear when i just open the file or draw a line.

I'm not sure if the reason are the regapps, because somehow the workflow "copy from 01 to 02, copy from 02 to 03" is the only one working...
