Copy/Pate Difficulty

I am encountering a strange issue when I try working with 2D files created by an electical component company's design software. Whenever I try to copy one assembly and paste it into another drawing, I end up only getting an additional copy of the desination drawing, not the source assembly.

I've attached a PDF to clarify.

Only purging unused block preferences resolves the issue.

Any thoughts on what properties of these files would cause this?

Thanks for your feedback!

Posting your dwg would tell a lot more than a PDF.

is there a chance the blocks have the same name?

I might also try inserting it as a block instead of copying it.

Hi john.modrzynski

It sounds like you have an existing block in the drawing with the same name. Rename it or the one from the vendor and I think you should be good to go.
