I am using AutoCad 2013 and I am having a couple of different issues with with copying and paste function on the program.
Sometimes I can copy and paste just fine, but then after about 10 times of copying and pasting, the program won't copy and paste anymore. Typically what it will say is to "select point to insert," however even when I do select a point as you are supposed to, it will not paste at all. Typically what I will have to do, to make the function work again is to completely close out of the program and then reopen it, which gets to be quite annoying. Then when I open the program again, it will sometimes work just fine, as it normally does when you use the copy and paste functions. Sometimes, though I can close out and reopen and the copy and paste function won't work (even if I do this several times), or it will go to the select point to insert, but it will never insert. I had one time when selecting a point to insert has actually worked during the past couple of months that this has been an issue. Also, the objects that I am copying and pasting within the same file.
Is there something that is being triggered to make a switch for it doing this? How can I fix it, or is there a way to actually allow the "select point to insert" function to work properly?
IMO it is probably your hardware issue - lack of memory, or your other programs, like antivirus, which take the most of memory, were running.
Try to restart your pc then close all auto startup programs. Now try your AutoCAD again.
HTH
I'm aware of this issue, it's not a copy issue. It's a pasting issue.
This use to happen to me even when I was working with a single small line. Try this repair link for now:
and I'll get back to you. Oh any by-the-way, make sure your layer is on you're working with. The light bulb needs to be on.
This is a new problem with 4+ year old software. It happens on every project I have been working on. However, the AutoCad 2013, was just installed onto the computer a couple of months ago, when I was given a new computer. However, even on the old computer I had started to run into this problem as well.
Purge command that comes with autocad can't get rid of DGN infection "if" your drawing has it.
You would need dgnpurge.
I keep having trouble with copy and paste.
(I posted the question sometime ago, but could not find the posting, so this double posting again)
I can paste after opening the computer and AutoCAD a few times, but then, after a little while, I cannot do it anymore.
Was wondering if it has to do with the size allocated to the Clipboard in Windows or AutoCAD (I am not computer savy), and then, when it gets full, it cannot handle additionals...(?)
Let me ask, where is allocated the size that the Clipboard can hold drawings and things copied to be pasted?
Thanks in advance.

I suspect you're running AutoCAD 2013 on a 32-bit Windows machine. If not, some of this may be irrelevant.
Have you seen this article?
Basically, anything you can do to reduce memory (RAM) use (by other things on your computer) while running AutoCAD will help prevent this.
