Converting 3D Block to 2D

I found the following block (please see attached URL), however it is in 3D and I need it in 2D for a plant layout I am working on. Is there a way to convert it to 2D? Does anyone also know a good website where I can find blocks for a plant and warehouse.

No URL here....

If you need it 2D in model-space you might try command _FLATTEN or command _SECTIONPLANETOBLOCK, if it's ok in the layout (depending on your AutoCAD release) you might try command _VIEWBASE

I tried the flatten company, however when I copy and paste it, the block is still in 3D. I have attached a picture, I am trying to only copy the top view of the block.

_FLATTEN was not the only suggestion 😉

(whereas I don't know if _VIEWBASE is working on Mac-AutoCAD, maybe it's better then to ask in the AutoCAD for Mac forum >>>there<<<)

I can see a picture (that are just pixels), but that does not give me the option to see which geometry objects are used to build that component.

A dwg-file would give us more info's about your object.

You may find it convenient to use the FLT command from the AVC_Flat plugin. This command sets fewer questions than _FLATSHOT and flattenes more than one different object (polyface meshes, 2d/3d polylines...)

I have similar question and flatshot worked for me.  My issue now is how do i get rid of all those lines once it is convert into 2d.  I tried convtosurface but the lines are not going away.  Anyone can help me with this?  Many thanks.

Which software do you use? Because it's telling me the DWG-file is not created by an Autodesk product, but we need to know what product (and version) you are using to give you valid suggestions ...

[EDIT] PLUS: I guess it will be difficult to get a clean 2D model from something like that ...
