Convert inch into meter

I would like to ask a silly question. I want to convert a drawing in feet into meter. The workflow I use is to open a dwg in feet and draw lines. Then copy them into a drawing in meter. However, it doesn't seem to be working.

-DWGUNITS select number 6, and follow the prompts to scale your drawing.
