Cannot see an XREF file

have created an DWG file that I want to as an XREF file. When I attached as an overlay XREF no elements are visible. It is in model space, and I can load as an XREF file, and see the elements, on a different file. But the one I need I cannot see. HELP

Without your both dwg? funny guessing, I start with Zoom and Layer command:

We talk about Model-Tab where you inserted the xref?

Go to Model-Tab, set ALL layer ON and THAWED (ALL! layers).

If scaling is very huge: ZOOM extents

if very small: ZOOM object last (if xref is the last object)

(or select the xref with qselect, start command move and cancel the command, Zoom object p)

You can try using the RECOVER command to open the problematic xref and then save it to see if you can now xref that drawing into the file.

Can you see the xref if it's attached instead of overlay?

Hi,

>> When I attached as an overlay XREF no elements are visible. <<

if you make ZOOM ( Extents ) ... does it appear some where in your model space ?

Hi Betreff,

Thanks for your response. Sorry for the delay, but I've been flat out. Unfortunately it couldn't be that easy. I've tried all the zoom extents, layers on, none frozen etc. the data is visible on certain files (So I know it's in the right place) but when that file is attached to another file it won't display. I think it has something to do with the nesting levels - but I don't know how to check, adjust these. I have gotten around the problem by binding my data file into the engineers base file, which is already X-Refed into the other drawings. Not ideal - but for now it works.

Hi, thanks to all that posted help ideas on my problem. Sorry for the delay, but I’ve been flat out.
