Hello,
I am trying to import a STEP file downloaded from a third party website, but I can't. I keep getting an import failed message.
I go to the INSERT tab, the IMPORT panel and press IMPORT.
I then set my file type to STEP, browse to the STEP file, select my file, and download. I close the background download message, and then I get the following message bubble at the bottom right:
Import Failed
The specified file is invalid or unsupported.
I have attached a screenshot of the error message, and the STEP file I am trying to attach.
I am using AutoCAD 2014, version I.108.0.0, SP1.
Thank you.

Hi,
welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!
I was able to reproduce the import issue with 2014, however, AutoCAD 2017 worked well.
Please find the file attached.

That worked.
Thank you very much.
Would you mind doing the same for this one as well?
Thank you!
Hi,
there it is, but would have been drawing within a few minutes 😉

Lol very true : )
Thanks much
I have an even more annoying issue, no matter what file try and I import, Autocad always renders the exact same image. The same issue happens in different projects across any drawing. Download an stp file for a heat exchanger, nope renders a valve, import an stpfor of a pump, nope renders that same valve again. Import a different valve, nope renders the same valve again.
