Cannot change the Conceptual view background colour

Anonymous

Hej!  I am looking for a solution to change the colour of my background in model space (conceptual) from this strange purple/blue to black.  Relevent search for solutions have been done in google but I have no any idea so far.

I guess what I have to do is go to Options/Display/Colors/3d parallel projection/Uniform background and change it to black.  But nothing happened and I really don't know why.

I have also briefly checked in the 3d perspective projection, block editor, and there is no way I can see these strange colours.  Anyone with any ideas?

P.S. Hej is what we say hi in Sweden.

Here is my screen captures.  I am using AutoCAD 2019 English (2019.1.2).

Hi,

I suggest to right click on the upper right view cube then toggle between parallel and perspective , any changes ?

Things to try :

  • from OPTIONS command >> Display tab >> Colors icon >> 3D Perspective projection >> change Background colors.
  • Turn On/Off hardware acceleration from GRAPHICSCONFIG command .

Hi,

>> The strange blue is still strange blue

Can you please restart AutoCAD, then create a new drawing based on ACAD.DWT or ACADISO.DWT, then create a box and now switch to a conceptual visual style ... same effect?

It seems that the background colour is somehow related to the autocad file.

My strange purple blue is still there when I re-visit the original autocad file.

Hi,

Well, thought something like that 😉

You can now

  • upload the file and we look into it
  • use the copy & paste functionality to copy the geometry from your "defect" drawing to a new one and continue with this file.

I have found a way which is far from a proper solution.  Why this strange blue problem is annoying is I have to use the free orbit in 3D to view my complex lines crossing in the 3d model space.  And free orbit only works in conceptual view.  By dividing the screen into two, somehow the background colour in Conceptual view in the left hand side is black (which makes me happy), but the thing in right hand side conceptual view is still weird purple blue.

Hi,

please start command _VIEW ==> select "Current" then ==> NEW

Make sure to see the full height of this dialog ... and there you see that you have made a gradient active as background...

It worked! Thousand thanks! Tack så mycket!

Is it a way to set it as default?

By the way, it seems that AutoCAD is not so smart as Orbit and Free Orbit would change to Wireframe view to render everything, with no consideration of what the user is using (i.e. 2d wireframe).

In my testing, it is specifically a flaw in that particular drawing.  The easiest fix would be to either:

  1. copyclip all the objects from the drawing and pasteorig in another drawing, or
  2. use -exporttoautocad to create a copy.

There are proxy objects in the current drawing. Depending on how important those are, you may just want to live with the behavior as either of those solutions will discard all the additional data in the drawing.  Contact the vendor of your specialized toolset.

Hi,

>> Is it a way to set it as default?

Change the background to "Default", uncheck "Save layer snapshot", change Visual style to "None" ... then save this view with name.
On the left side you now get the name in the list of views ==> select it and click on "Set Current" on the right side.

This should do it.

Therefore I presume this problem would persist if I open another problematic .dwg file?

Hi,

This is a setting in the file, if the file was created with the default to show the gradient then yes, you need to correct it for each of the files. This is not a general switch independent from drawings (otherwise you would have seen the gradient when you created a new dwg with the box sample).

Go to visual style manager and select conceptual then in environmental background set the background to off.
