Can`t make a section view of a 3D model in layer.

Hello everyone,

so I have this problem with my 3D model. Basically when I try to make a section view of my 3D model and after I press enter it just does not appear. Like I can see the model sectioned (in colors) but then I hit enter and it dissapears. I noticed that it has something to do with the spring in the middle of the model, because when I remove it, it sections perfectly. I dunno what could be wrong with the model and I am just a beginner.

I added the 3D model file.

Thanks 🙂

you don't want to break up the model to make different views this makes drawing in 3d kind of pointless. in paper space try the view base command. Using this you will be able to show front, back, side section...etc with just the one model

youtube view base command you can make any section or view you want . FYI i know you might be limited in software but you should really look into Inventor if your work is going to consist of things like these

Hi Edgar,

use autocad view base you can do plan ,iso, section and elevation and link to model as well, ive done this from your file in less than a minute of course if you have a template already

Is this made in the layer tab, because it looks just like I need it to be. But I quite don`t understand steps on how you made it. But still big thanks for the insight :))

Tried it and basically it just crashes if I try insert it, but when I remove the spring it works. Have no idea why is that.

when you create viewbase it will automatically create layers then from the layers you can customize your color, linetype, etc see below snapshot

Oh understod, I get this far, but I realized that the program is not letting me make different views. Like I can only add the first view and thats all, it crashes. Even if I try to make a section for the one view I can add it just crashes (not like throws me out of the AutoCAD but like frezes and doesn`t show the view/section I wanted to put).

Yea i know your pain, view base works great on my work computer but on my home CPU not so much. One thing you can try is making sure your grapics are running on Direct X 11. This helped my allot with CAD hang ups

Thanks guys for the help, and quick responding. I tried everything and in the end I looked at my task manager and it looked like AutoCAD is using too  much of my system ram (16gb). I restrated the computer, opened AutoCAD on it`s own without different background programms (like Chrome ect.) and everything worked fine.

But yeah huge thanks to all of you guys, great community. 🙂
