Can't figure out the scale/scale doesnt fit in paper space

I've been trying to figure this out for days, and I just can't wrap my head around it and I'm so desperate that I'm taking my chances here. I'm required to make the model fit into 1:20 space, as my boss requires me to make it of that size as he measures it himself with a engineering scale, but for the life of me I can't make it fit. I've made drawing after drawing trying to get it work but its impossible for me, what am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to be doing something way more differently? Am I just using the wrong scales? Any help would be appreciated

Wrong papersize

Wrong viewport custom scale factor

Wrong plotscale in your pagesetup/plot dialog

Share one DWG and we can see &explain it.

I assume when you wrote 1:20 you're really saying 1"=20'-0". This is the proper scale notation for Imperial (foot inch) units. 1:20 is the typical notation for Metric units.

Your MAESTROS_1 (1).dwg is drawn using Architectural Imperial units where 1 unit = 1 inch.

Your mistake was how you defined in the Scalelist: 1"20"

This should be 1" = 20' = 12"x20' = 240 inches:

Now when you apply this zoom scale factor onto your Layout1's (which I renamed as 11x17-1-20) Vport it now fits on 11x17 sheet of paper. I also inserted a 1"=20' graphic scale for your boss to use this to help measure with an actual scale to confirm all the dimensions.

I forgot to say, thank you so much, this really helped out! A quick question, would I need to make any changes to the drawing if he decides to print it out at 24x36?

You are very welcome.

Since 1"=20'-0" fits perfectly on 11x17 size paper, if he wants to waste paper and plot exactly the same scaled drawing onto 24x36, then I would make a copy of the current layout and set that up on the new layout by doing the following:

1. Right mouse click on 11x17-1-20 layout & on the cursor menu select Move or Copy

2. On the Move or Copy window under Before layout: select (move to end), check Create a copy & click OK

3. Select the copied layout tab now called 11x17-1-20 (2), then right mouse click & this time on the cursor menu choose Rename and change the name to 24x36-1-20

4. Right mouse click on layout 24x36-1-20 and on the cursor menu select Page Setup Manager or simply enter on the command line PAGESETUP

5. On the Page Setup Manager window with the 24x36-1-20 layout selected click Modify

6. In the Page Setup - 24x36-1-20 window change the Paper size to ARCH D (36.00 x 24.00 Inches) and click OK and Close

7. Now do a ZOOM All and you'll see the same 1"=20'-0" scaled Vport down on the lower left hand corner of the 36x24 sheet.

Right away you'll see how much paper will be wasted assuming you've setup your plotter to print out blank spaces in a set paper size.
