Can't create a rectangle with coordinates

I first open the rectangle, I input 0 and then tabI first open the rectangle, I input 0 and then taband then 0 again, and enterand then 0 again, and enterthen it disappearsthen it disappearsI just started using AutoCAD and I tried making a rectangle the size of a standard piece of paper (11in, 8.5in) and I know I'm supposed to go to draw and then click on the rectangle, and that's when I am supposed to input my coordinates, I wanted my first corner to be at (0,0). So I inputted 0 and then tab, and 0 again and enter. but that made the rectangle disappear, on my professor's example after you input the first coordinates it should ask for the next set of coordinates for the other corner which in this case would be  (11, 8.5). I am not sure why this isn't working for me. Can anyone help?

Hi,

try this :

Line command >> type 0,0 >> then move your mouse to the direction that you want to draw and enter your value then Enter ( not tab ) >> repeat moving your mouse and enter the new value and Enter till you close your rectangle .

OR you can draw your rectangle by Rectangle and MOVE commands . click on below image

Command: RECTANG
Specify first corner point or [Chamfer/Elevation/Fillet/Thickness/Width]:
Specify other corner point or [Area/Dimensions/Rotation]: @Anonymous,8.5

Command: MOVE
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 1 found

Select objects:
Specify base point or [Displacement] <Displacement>:
Specify second point or <use first point as displacement>: #0,0,0
