Can't assign certain shortcut keys

Hello,

It looks like there are some shortcut keys combinations that I just cannot assign with any command at all, just like "ctrl+f4" and "ctrl+f6".

Does anyone know how can I manage to use these combos?

Thank you.

Assign command using Acad.pgp

Why use Ctrl+F Number?

I think acad.pgp is only used to assign alias to commands and that is not what I want. I want to use the hotkey combination.

I want to use ctrl+f because I used to use it in another software before moving to autocad.

CTRL+F4 is CLOSE command, much like that combo does in many popular Windows based programs.

CTRL+F6 is a toggle to jump between programs that use tabs to display different "pages".

AutoCAD for Windows follows those actions too just like the other programs.

So... what other program used these to do something else please?

And what did those combos do in the other program?

And Which OS did you last use?

And (might as well find out) where in AutoCAD are you trying, and what did you do in there exactly? Remember no one here can see what you did or tried in detail.

Curious minds wish to know please.

Yes, I know that, but I still would like to change these shortcuts.

TQS

And what did those combos do in the other program?

CTRL+F4: Copy selection

CTRL+F6: a command equivalent to AutoCAD's LAYMCH

And Which OS did you last use?

Windows 11

I opened CUI, found the "copy" command in the command list and dragged it to "Keyboard shortcuts>Shortcut keys". Then, I selected the 3 dots in "proprieties>access>keys". After that, it opens a window where I can press the key combination to assign the shortcut. It worked perfectly for all the combos but these two I mentioned and also for alt+F combos.

@Felipe_CHIOCCHETTI1 As far as I know, you cannot edit all shortcuts in AutoCAD to do whatever you need, some are reserved for windows and some are already assigned in AutoCAD. A quick test here that that appears to be the case for these two CTRL+.

Other than confirming the findings with Autodesk Support, I see no one else jumping in just yet to offer that option so you have some waiting to do.

Here are ways to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:

and/or
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Contacting-a-techn...

You can also ask Autodesk for a change to the program at a different website, then wait 2-5-10-20 versions from now for it to be implemented if you never find a way to do so

Best wishes.
