C++ 2012 Libraries

My IT department will not allow me to install the C++ 2012 libraries in our Windows10 environment.  We attempted to install Autocad2018 and were not able to proceed when we got to the C++ 2012 installation.

1) Does Autocad2019 still require the C++ 2012 libraries?  IT will allow installation of the 2015 libraries.

2) If the 2012 libraries are still included as a prerequisite for the 2019 product, is there a way to not allow installation of this library during initial loading of the 2019 software.

HI @Anonymous,

I am looking at my system as I have not been able to find any documentation on this issue.  I see that I have 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017 versions of C++ installed.  I have AutoCAD 2016-2019, AutoCAD LT 2016-2019, Civil 3D 2019, AutoCAD Architecture 2019.

With that said, I believe that these libraries are required and you will not be able to install with out them. If I find anything to the contrary, I will post back.

The C++ redist packages are typically backwards compatible i.e. a newer version can be used in place of the earlier version.  However in order to bypass this you'll need to modify the deployment INI file (and risk failure if the system doesn't have either).

All that said, these redist packages are not optional.  They're critical "LEGO bricks" that are called from the program so that the Autodesk developers don't have to build everything from scratch.
