bold shx font not horizontal

Has anyone noticed that the 'g' letters in particular cause this font to veer downward? The line in the image is horizontal.

I haven't used that one, but it would have to be an error in the code defining that character.  Those lots-of-close-parallel-lines fonts usually date from before TrueType fonts could be used, so that approach was the only way to get significant character stroke thickness, filled in solid by the plotted lineweight of those filler lines.  If for some reason you can't move to a TrueType font for solid-filled characters, do you have the .shp file for that font?  The character definition could probably be fixed.
