Big Issue with AutoCAD

Ok so I have been drafting for ~20 years in AutoCAD here are my mandatory suggestions, or the entire program should be rewritten or both:

1. AUTOCAD MUST Completely support Multi-threading. Not doing so, means the end of CAD.

2. I FIGURE I SPEND ABOUT 1/2 OF MY TIME IN CAD BROWSING FOR THE CORRECT DIRECTORY. I HAVE A DIRECTORY FOR EACH PROJECT. UNLIKE MOST PEOPLE WHO JUST STORE STUFF RANDOMLY (NOT).  MOST/SOME OF THE DIALOG BOXES DO NOT ALLOW FOR COPY AND PASTING OF DIRECTORIES. ALSO THEY ALWAYS FORGET AND I HAVE TO RE-BROWSE EVERY TIME.

3. OUT OF THE BOX VANILLA CAD IS UNACCEPTABLE (DOES AUTO-DESK EVERY TRY THIS)

THAT'S IT FOR NOW.

THANKS AND YES I THINK CAPS HELPS TO GET MY POINT ACCROSS

You can place project folder short cuts in the "Places" area.  That has been a huge time saver.

Thank you for the suggestion. Yes I am aware this fix. It works for dialog boxes that look like those. However, many of the dialog boxes do not look like this in the sheetset manager and other locations.

Thanks tho

Since you've used AutoCAD for ~20 years and AutoCAD still has not made any of the improvements you've suggested, yet the product is still in existence and now even sold as a monthly subscription. So my reply would be that Autodesk would most likely continue to do what they have been doing with AutoCAD for another ~20 years.

Hi,

>> AUTOCAD MUST Completely support Multi-threading

Yep, it can then much faster wait until you show the point of the line.

If you think it's the end of CAD I guess most CAD system have then reached their end (as it does not make sense to wait for customers input with 24 threads).

You might describe were you see the most advantages for multi-threading, then we can discuss that.

>> I SPEND ABOUT 1/2 OF MY TIME IN CAD BROWSING FOR THE CORRECT DIRECTORY

Isn't folder structure your job, it's not AutoCAD which does it for you.

If you need a document management system then buy one, that can find files differently.

>> MOST/SOME OF THE DIALOG BOXES DO NOT ALLOW FOR

>> COPY AND PASTING OF DIRECTORIES

My open-dialogs and save-as-dialogs do work with pasted folders (in AutoCAD).

Which ones do not have the option to paste folders on your system?

>> OUT OF THE BOX VANILLA CAD IS UNACCEPTABLE

That is the best statement to get something working better ... ranting, but not telling us, why

What (exactly!) makes AutoCAD unusable for you (that is usable for millions of users)? Without this description we can't help you in any way.

1. No one at Autodesk is talking about it anywhere, so don't hold your breath.
2. You need to use a file management software package: AutoCAD is not that.
OR customize.
3. Means nothing to anyone reading your sentence: i that was a general statement, then consider another different CAD program, there are many out there with different options that work just fine with DWG file formats.

Have fun waiting.
