Auxiliary views with Viewbase...

Has anyone attempted Auxiliary views with Viewbase?

Looks like the best available solution is to use the Section option and tweak the Section style to rid the cutting plane objects (can't omit text but I can avoid printing it by setting no-print for that layer.  Also, you cannot create the new Centermarks when you create these tricky section views for auxiliary.  I tried setting the UCS in PaperSpace to the angle of the Aux (er uh Section) view and the Centermark will not place.  Of course the old style centermarks have no issue here but they are not associated with the model as the new ones are.  I have no issues with dimensions on Baseviews but when an angled centerline is needed I turn off the centermark for the diameters and place one then rotate it typically.

Sample file attached.

Inventor has just a bit more functionality in the Viewbase commands so Auxiliary views are there.  I sure hope Autodesk decides to migrate the rest of the Inventor Viewbase into ACAD soon.

Please spare me any lectures about picking one product or another.  I use both at work and I teach both at college.  Just looking for completeness in the AutoCAD way.

Cheers All!

Hi @beyoungjr,

I agree that the new centermark and centerline tools do not work in the Viewbase views. I will suggest this as a feature request to the Development team.

Thank you again for the suggestion how we can improve the product.

You are also welcome to contact the product team directly through the Product Feedback page. The links below go into more detail about the best ways to make suggestions.

Another great option is to participate in the AutoCAD Customer Council. This is an opportunity for our customers to partner with the AutoCAD development team to improve future releases of AutoCAD by giving continuous feedback on ideas, designs, and early builds.

That is how I do it.  Hint- change the section method from full to slice and the lines seen through the holes in your example won't show.  I do this from the Ribbon, Contextual ribbon for baseviews.

Very cool GrantsPirate!  I forgot about the "Method" panel and slice option.  Not often I need it but thanks for that reminder.

Now where's that "Make Centermarks Work With Sections" icon?  Smiley Wink
