AUTOSAVE problems

Hello,

All I want is for AutoCAD to automatically save the drawing I'm working on every ten minutes and for it to create a backup file each time.  I guess I don't really need a separate drawing saved although that would be fine if that's how it works.

When I go to the folder I specified for Autocad automatic saves there are no drawings in there from the past week or so.  It worked until about a week ago but now it doesn't.

I do not understand why it would just stop making automatic saves but it has.  I have not added on any third party software or add ons.

How do I simply set it up so it automatically saves the drawing I'm working on every 10 minutes and makes a backup copy?  I just want it to be that simple.

Thank you.

Autosave was never intended to be a save feature in AutoCAD. it is ONLY intended to provide a form of recovery from a catastrophic failure of some kind.  It is NOT intended to replace proper file saving techniques.  Autosave files are generated when the user exceeds the SAVETIME limit and are subsequently deleted when the user issues a PROPER save command.  If the user foolishly exceeds the SAVETIME twice, the first Autosaved file is renamed as a BAK and replaced by a new autosave ... which will be deleted when a proper save is executed.

<edit>

BTW, it Autosave does not save a DWG file, it creates a .$SV file that can be renamed to DWG.

Learn to manually save every 10-15 minutes, use a shortcut, you can use TAB and SPACEBAR as <enter> too: we all do it, it's not rocket science, start owning your saves, don't assume a software is going to always be doing it for you.

Hi @Anonymous,

I like to manually Save so I know when, where, and why it happens. AutoSave is not the same as a manual save.  I did look in the Autodesk App store and there is an inexpensive add-in that lets you configure a save after a specified number of commands. Maybe this will help you to "automate" the process.

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you have the opportunity to try the add-in from the App store? I am hoping that will work the way you want.
