AutoCAD takes too much time to open Civil3D Drawing

Hi,

Our team has received a civil3d file from a client, which we wish to open in AutoCAD.

The drawing file is of 40mb, and is a civil 3d generated file.
Unfortunately, when we open the drawing in AutoCAD it takes a long time but doesn't open the drawing. (6 hours or so). We have tried to download AutoCAD Civil3D Object Enabler too, but that hasn't helped.

Is there any resolution to it?

What happens if you XREF it into a new blank drawing?

Hi,

thanks for quick reply. I tried to do it now, but AutoCAD is not responding. (It has frozen at the X ref window)

How often do you all open 40MB+ DWG files in your office if I may ask?

What did the client offer as help with their own file? I bet they can offer tips like a quick conversion to "plain AutoCAD" for your systems.

What if you all download a trial version of C3D to test it out too before you contact the client so you both can compare notes

If you are on subscription with AutoCAD, have you tried installing and using AutoCADMAP to compare?
