AutoCaD file corruption

Every time the drawing “51603691A.dwg” is opened, the panels and other objects are getting deleted, and the customer reports that he needs to copy and paste panels from DXF files “ Panel 1” & “ Panel 2”, as well as objects from the “51603691A-CM.dwg”. AutoCAD is used to create all the objects. The problem is solved by renaming the panel after copying and pasting it from the DXF and other objects files from “51603691A-CM.dwg”. I am  curious to know what caused the file corruption.

Hard to say without having the files 😉

It sounds you are talking about Blocks with the same name, but different definitions.

That's the problem you cannot control: your new content/blocks all have the same exact names as older/different definitions that already reside in their destination file.

RENAME is the primary solution here (you decide where to do it): a workaround is for you to provide them with a BLOCK Library and train them to INSERT/REPLACE instead of the problematic copy/paste, OR... ask them to INSERT or COPY/PASTE their file into your newer one, then WBLOCK out their content to create a new /replacement DWG file.

You and them need to coordinate together to find a mutually acceptable solution. Best wishes.
