AutoCAD Drawing Views - Unable to Project/Edit

Hi There
I am making use of the AutoCAD Drawing Views command in AutoCAD 2014. Every so often, the views seem to lose their intelligence. It is still recognised by AutoCAD as a view (screenshot02) and the Drawing View contextual tab opens up, but if I try projecting from or editing the view the program in unresponsive. I can see the command went through the command line but nothing happens (as seen in screenshot01).
This happens intermittently and a pattern has not yet been picked up.
