AutoCAD - Cannot copy between layout tabs

I am working on a drawing from an outside company and the issue I am having is copying objects between layout tabs. I have 14 layout tabs and I want to copy objects from one tab to another.

I have tried copy on the clipboard and paste to original coordinates, but this just pastes it on the existing page I have copied it from rather than the page I require it on.

Can someone shed any light what I am doing wrong?

Hi,

If you are talking about the "Paste to Original Coordinates" feature (command _pasteorig),

that is impossible - because this command is not available in any layouts of your (source) file!

??

And independend on this fact, it doesn't make sense that it works on the source layout, but not at the others.

Please share your DWG, a Screenscast and/or Screenshot and a step-by-step description - perhaps we (or just me) misunderstood your workflow.

For me: Not without more facts (DWG, Video, Screenshots..)

I was able to copy and paste an object between two layouts with no issue.

@hannahETJEJ Each of your layouts only contain a single viewport. there is no LAYOUT content in any of them other than the viewport in each layout.
You are also inside each viewport in each layout.

AND each viewport has it's own unique layer FREEZE overrides.

So... to copy from LAYOUT to LAYOUT you have to be outside each viewport in those layouts.

BUT... I suspect you are not aware of any of the above, you are literally copying content in modelspace only, what you select in one viewport is on a frozen layer in the next layout's viewport and why you cannot see it.

May I ask: are you new to using AutoCAD, and viewports with layer overrides? It would be worth you asking the file creator for guidance, this DWG file was specifically set up to only show limited content in each layout's viewports.

The first I note after open your file: You are in Modelspace (inside a viewport).

And in your Paperspace, there is only one viewport -> nothing senseful to copy to other layouts.

Are you new in AutoCAD?

MODELSPACE: The place to draw a model / the plan content

LAYOUT / PAPERSPACE: The place to layout drawings, where you add a drawing border and titles..

VIEWPORT: An object what is a kind of "windows"  to look into your modelspace.

Do this:

Open your file, type in PSPACE<enter>MODEL<enter>ZOOM<enter>EX<enter>

All the content of 14 pages are drawn on top of eachother, for each page is a separate layer used.

(simple to understand for me, but I never saw that before for electrical schemes )

Stupid, hopeful it was an export from another program (if this was created this way from a user - hit him)
