AutoCAD 2024 Issue Opening Files

I just downloaded AutoCAD 2024 yesterday, and now I'm running into something I've never seen before when opening files. If I have AutoCAD already open, and I open another file through file explorer, the AutoCAD application will open a second time to show the new file. I've looked at SDI and that's set to 0. What setting is off?

Is it actually opening another instance of the program, or is it just showing each drawing on the taskbar?

Check out the TASKBAR command:

It is loading another instance of the program instead of opening another tab on the already open AutoCAD program.

Thanks for the solution, this does work. It's a shame though that the file type changes from "DWG" to "AutoCAD Drawing". Instead of showing the DWG blue/yellow file next to the name, it just looks like a white sheet of paper. Oh well, the main issue is resolved. Thanks!

Does the blue/yellow icon return once you restart your computer?

After a restart, that does not appear to do anything.

Not seeing anything like that here, except for BAK files. Do you have file extensions set to show in WindowsOS?

Did you try fixing it https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/generic-icons-show...

This fix did not resolve the issue on my machine, I am running Windows 10 and I followed the "using the control panel" , then selecting "Set defaults by app"

But AutoCAD does not show in this list,

Could this be the problem? If if select "choose default apps by protocol" and scroll down to the .DWG, .DWT etc. I can select the AutoCAD or Launcher per applicable extension.
