AutoCAD 2022 Text Fuzzy in 2D Wireframe view but not in other view types.

Hello,

Just upgraded from 2012 to 2022, Windows 10, Radeon Pro WX 2100.

The text and lines in drawing are slightly fuzzy in normal 2D Wireframe, and when I select a different view such as 3D Wireframe, Conceptual etc... all the line and text become sharp.

Kind of annoying, as I can't find a solution anywhere to this.

Also used get blue screen of death due to the Graphics card and I updated all drivers, bios, and windows so that no longer happens.  But even before that the text was fuzzy.

fuzzy how? Show us with screenshots and a sample DWG file to go with it.

BSDs means you have a much bigger problem going on 😉

Hello Pendean, thank you for the reply.  I finally upgraded to 2022 as the 2012 version was getting a bit on in years.  The laptop is a year old, still good, and everything was running fine (but text fuzzy) and NEVER blue screen of death.  So I updated the drivers and then all hell broke loose.  So I reinstalled the AMD stuff, updated windows, and also updated the BIOS.  So CAD runs nicely now, I still get the random BSD, but once in a blue moon and I will put that down to the AMD chipset as for some reason the BSD also happened when making a macro in Excel...anyway.

The fuzzy text is my issue now, to me it just looks off.  If this is the new normal, fine, but I've been using AutoCAD since the 90's and I always very crisp lines and text.

Thanks for the images and file: what exactly are you calling "fuzzy text"? Do you mean the light and dark lines on the old style lines-only SHX fonts while in 3D wireframe?

I think it's your laptop's video card or screen(s) or a combination that are the problems, see attached images (download to view, don't rely on the viewer in the forum) from my desktop

Have you tried setting the LINESMOOTHING variable to "off"?  I don't know if that even applies to text, but that's what it looks like it's doing.

Regarding your occasional BSOD issue, my coworker's computer was forcibly updated to Windows 10 20H2 and since then gets BSOD at least once every week or two, regardless of what program is open or what he's doing.  We've tried a number of AMD drivers (for WX 5100) to no avail.  I think it's a conflict with Windows 10 20H2 and the AMD video graphics drivers.

Wow!  Never heard of the command LINESMOOTHING before!!!!!  Is this a new variable?  This works.  The drawings now look 'normal' to me again once I set it to OFF.  Thank you so much.

Pendean, your screen shots look good to me once downloaded by the way.

But for sure, some combination of screen, gfx, and PC specs.  These updates always mess things up...

I believe LINESMOOTHING was introduced in 2015, so not new, but definitely new for you coming from 2012!  By the way, you could also try leaving LINESMOOTHING on and set LINEFADING to off.  That might be a happy medium between crispness and blur.

Very interesting these linesmoothing and linefading commands.  Thanks for the heads up.

As for the blue screen and crashing, the only solution in the end was to completely deactivate and uninstall the AMD card - funny enough AutoCAD runs faster on the built in Intel stuff (Intel UHD Graphics 620) than on the AMD Graphics card.

I have the same issue. My office installed AutoCAD 2022 over the Christmas break. First thing I noticed. It's driving me crazy because our CAD guy says he can't see it.
