I recently uploaded my subscription to Autocad LT 2021.

Should I remove Autocad LT 2020 from my computer?

Thanks, so there shouldn't be any conflict?

Every now and then, I try to open a drawing from within Autocad, and I get a message that the file is not valid.

My work around is to open windows explorer, find the dwg, right click, and select open with Autocad 2021.

It's OK, but this "drawing file is not valid" is a little annoying - Xrefs created with older versions problem?

Thanks,

Frank.

That should not be an issue with 2020 and 2021. It's the same DWG format (AutoCAD DWG 2018) - all the way from version 2018 to version 2021.

Still is unable to open drawings that have been saved to the cloud and worked on remotely by my employee.  I have to open the XREFs first, save, and then open the file.   He is working on Auticad 2017.

"file not valid" is an error you are getting from your OS or cloud service losing track of versions of the files: as a test, copy the file in question to your PC's desktop, then open it from there. If it will not open, you and your employee probably need to try exchanging files by email for the day to test.

FWIW - I would never trust "Saving to the cloud" for the very reason you mention @Anonymous

Follow what @pendean said for a test.
