AutoCad 2019 Layer Properties

Prior to Autocad 2019 I was able to open layer properties in my second screen and leave it open while I worked in the first screen.  Now in 2019 when I open layer properties it allows me to do all the normal things to layers (freeze/thaw,  on/off, change colors, etc).  But when Im finished I cannot go back the the first screen and work without closing the layer properties pallette.  Is this just a setting I need to change to leave it open all the time or is this the way that it has been changed to be all the time?

Which "layer properties" do you have open? There are two, one does what you want, the other does not.
IF you are not sure, post a screenshot of it here.

Hi,

make sure the variable LAYERDLGMODE is set to 1 and you start command _.LAYER (start from command line with underline and dot)
