AutoCAD 2019/2020 Windows 10 .NET issue and solution

In case this can help anyone in the future.  AutoCAD when installed on a Windows 10 machine with update KB4506991 installed will fail to launch, stating that the program was not installed properly.  It will then throw a .NET exception error and close.

Solution - Control Panel --> Uninstall a Program --> View installed Updates --> choose and uninstall KB4506991
Restart the computer and AutoCAD should now launch correctly.

This is a known issue. Version 1903 is not supported.

Well maybe I shouldn't say "not supported". Support's suggestion is to uninstall the update as you have suggested.

Hi,

>> AutoCAD when installed on a Windows 10 machine

>> with update KB4506991 installed will fail to launch

Update KB4506991 is installed on my system, AutoCAD works well, AutoCAD verticals (Map3D, Civil3D are working well too), .NET based application inside AutoCAD are working well.

Alfred, which version of AutoCAD? ...if that matters. I assume that kb means that you also have win10 v1903? The reason I'm asking is that we have 2018 and if our IT dept decides they want to go to 1903, then I assume I would have to upgrade to 2020.

Hi,

2014 to 2020.1

The only difference might be that my laptop was installed with 1903, not updated from an older Win10 version (and so not using any old drivers).

That might make a difference. It could be why so many others have had trouble with 1903.
