I have borrowed this old post as it seems to still be an issue without a solution that I can find.
Help would be appreciated. See the attached file.
AutoCAD 2017 SP1
Sometimes when editing MText, my ribbon gets HUGE and takes up half the screen. I've fixed this before by closing and re-opening AutoCAD. And, of course, it doesn't always do it. It looks like it's stretching the ribbon to show all my text styles. Is there some setting that needs to be selected or is this a glitch?
Thanks in advance for your help!

When I checked this setting, "Collapse as Needed" was already selected.
I changed the setting, applied and then changed it back to Collapse as Needed. Then Apply the change.
Problem corrected

If you are using Civil 3D this is located in the map.cuix not the all.cuix

Depends on how you have the CUIs set up. For me, CIVIL is the Main CUI and ACAD is the relevant Partial CUI where this setting can be changed.
I have been encountering this issue, seemingly at random, on two different computers, both running Civil 3D 2018. Very annoying, but I am thankful that my fellow users posted the temporary fix here.

It does seem to return randomly. I wonder whether it is drawing specific.

I experience this issue too on occasion with ACE 2020 - I believe it did it with earlier versions as well, but can't remember. It was annoying since the only fix that worked for me every time was to close down all open drawings and restart ACE. Recently, however, I found cycling through all (4) ribbon display modes by either left-clicking the "Minimize To" button (left arrow button of the two at the far right end of the ribbon tab) or double left-clicking in the empty space anywhere off to the right of the (2) arrow buttons returns the text editor ribbon back to normal. You don't even have to exit out of the mtext editor first. Don't get me wrong, it's still annoying, but it at least saves the time from having to close down all drawings and restart ACE. Hopefully this will help others.

Civil3D Users:
CUI > Ribbon > Tabs >Civil 3D Annotate > Annotate - Text > Resize Style > Collapse as needed

That has already been suggested.

This worked in AutoCAD LT 2022 when I tried it. Thanks to those that made the suggestion and posted the solution.
@Anonymous wrote:I fixed this issue with your suggestion, however instead of choosing "Collapse as Needed" which was already selected, I chose "Collapse Last" and it seemed to put the ribbon back to normal.

Thank you! Purging fixed the problem for me, with AutoCAD 2018

Thank you Thank you Thank you. Nothing is more frustrating than when the official Autodesk Support Solution does not apply to the version of CAD that you are having the issue with. I was going crazy looking for 'Text Editor Contextual Tab' until I found you post.
