AutoCAD 2017 - Crash after opening same drawing 3-4 times

This is a weird one and I'm really hopeful that someone has seen this before.  I was testing a program and ran into this by accident.  At first, I thought it was the program and spent a bit of time looking.  Until I later realized that I could replicate this without the program!  If you open the same drawing 3-4 times (mostly right on 3, but sometimes 4) AutoCAD crashes.  It's been very consistent on my current machine.  I've resaved the drawing, checked other drawings, and even used the default profile to eliminate as much as possible.  Nada... still happens regardless.  I'm hoping maybe this has been addressed in a hotfix or service pack or maybe something simple I'm overlooking.  As of now, our IT says everything is included that should be and it gives a fatal access exception.  I've been testing this issue on my workstation, but haven't tried my laptop yet.  I'll try it sometime tomorrow.  However, in the meantime, this is consistent enough that I suspect there's a reason somewhere.  Any thoughts?!

I've attached the Windows Problem Step Recording of it if that will help (my company blocks us from installing other external applications so sorry... this is what I have).

My first question would be, why open the same drawing over and over again...? The issue could be related to one of the plugins you have installed. Some plugins perform actions on drawings as they are opening to prepare the file for writing custom information. When the drawing is closed and reopened, the custom application may fail due to previous session with the same file.

That being the case, try the process procedure on a machine without any of the plugins.

Can you share a copy of the file for troubleshooting?

I don't have any custom plugins other than Raster and those that come with the default install.  I'll strip it of everything but the bare bones this evening when I can get out of meetings and through some project work and see where it goes.  I've attached one of the drawing files for troubleshooting, but it requires our custom fonts.  So you'll have to deal with that unfortunately.

I understand that it's not normal to open/close and reopen the same drawing, but (and excuse any sarcasm) I feel fairly confident Autodesk doesn't want to say that their product is good as long as you don't open the same drawing more than once.  Though I actually hope the problem is on my end.  It'd be nice to know what to look for.  In this case, I just happened upon it as I was testing a program I had written which meant me opening, closing, and reopening the drawing.  I've also had intermittent crashes from it while batch processing several drawings.  I'm a little concerned that maybe this is part of the story which makes its response to automation a little unstable.

Are you opening/closing/opening the file, or are you doing that to AutoCAD?
There is no crash here in R2017 if I open and close your file (not AutoCAD) 10-times so far.

I think Darrin.Green may have nailed it on the head.  I wasn't thinking plugins because I didn't really have any loaded.  We're in the process of migrating to 2017 and what I didn't realize (until some further digging) that our electronic signature stamp application from 2015 was loading.  Unfortunately, it's demand loaded and so even with 2017 was loading up in the background unbeknownst to me.  I disabled it, and it seems to work so far.  I test more extensively this afternoon.  I've got the 2017 version ready so I'll test without it loaded at all and with the 2017 version loaded.  Good gravy... it's the little things... though hopefully that's it and I can just have an embarrasing moment here for something overlooked Smiley Sad

Hi @Anonymous,

@Darin.Green is a sharp guy. If his solution works please mark his post a s a solution.

A digital stamp would be easy to miss so I hope that is the fix!
