AutoCAD 2016 screen flashing

Anonymous
Not applicable

Recently updated to AutoCAD 2016.  While zooming and/or panning the entire screen flashes black then comes back.  Happens randomly but often.  If I'm in the middle of a command it will sometimes terminate the command.  Very annoying and difficult to get work done.  Running Windows 7, NVIDIA Quadra 3600 video card with the latest driver.  I was previously running AutoCAD 2013 with no issues.  My co-workers also run Windows 7 and AutoCAD 2016 with no issues.  Wish I could post a video of the offensive glitch but I don't know how to do so.

R2013 is no longer a relevant comparison.

In R2016, go into GRAPHICSCONFIG command and start turning off options startin with LINESMOOTHING and LINEFADING all the way up and test each along the way until your video card calms down and stops doing that.

You can also see if Autodesk has a driver for your software/OS combo here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?id=18844534&siteID=123112

Unchecked everything under graphics performance window.  Even tried turning off graphics acceleration.  Problem persists.  Didn't have the issue during the first week of using 2016.

I have a similar problem.  My screen only flashes when working in paper space.  It happens randomly, but frequently, so can't put it down to any particular command or action that I carry out. Must note that this is very irretating. This did not happen with 2015 or 2014 using the same computer.

The flashing also occurs on another workstation of ours, both have 28" 4K monitors and I will not be surprised if ACAD is struggling with the higher resolution.

AutoCAD is not 4K ready yet. Maybe try resetting your resolution down to 1920x1080.

Both my co-worker and I run 1920 x 1200 resolution.  My screen flashes, his does not.  The flashing did start only in paper space at seemingly random times but often.  Now it flashes in both paper and model space.

I'm using a Dell T3500 with NVIDIA  Quadro FX3800 1GB.  My co-worker has a Dell T3610 with NVIDIA Quadro K4000 3GB.  Both computers put together by our boss (office computer guy).  He tries to keep all our systems running as similar as possible to avoid confusion and chaos.

Swap cards to see if that fixes the issue on your machine.

I just upgraded and my screen will not settle down. At first, it appears to flash, but it actually appears to try to start a zoom in or out and returns to the current view. The screen never goes black.

Mouse wheel too sensitive? I unplugged the 3Dconnexion Navigator thinking it was interfering. I'm using a bluetooth mouse.

Do you have all the hotfixes and patches installed for 2016?
Did you also ry to change hardware acceleration in 2016 yet? GRAPHICSCONFIG command, everything on that pop-up can be deselected if necessary.

If you 'upgraded' to Win10, roll back for now, it's not supported yet.

I did deactivate the graphics acceleration and each item individually.

My Autodesk Manager has updated with hotfix and some other items.

I tried a wired mouse and the same issue persists.

Real weird.

I'm using Civil 3d 2016, just got a new computer and the screen jumps when I rotate point objects.

I may have narrowed it down to certain drawings or drawings with lots of points. (which if true could mean that it's drawing specific)

Sorry that's all I have at this time as I've got Autodesk working on it and I'm spending my Saturday working on it.

Hope to get this resolved soon, it's giving me a headache.

I am also having a screen flashing problem only while in paper space while selecting and deselecting viewports. Very distracting and hard to work through. Running a windows 7 +  nvidia card that ran 2013, 2014, 2015 autocad/revit without issues. Tried working through the graphics config/accelerator toggling on and off with no improvement.

I feel your pain.  I've reverted back to a working version of Autocad.  Though I keep the 2016 installed awaiting a possible "hotfix" to be released.  I've found it flickers worse depending on the drawing.  Many times if I'm in the middle of a command the flicker will terminate the command.  Unusable as far as I'm concerned.

Did you install all the patches and updates for R2016 yet?
R2013 is too old for a direct comparison anymore BTW.

I continue to check for and install any hotfixes for 2016.  Still no fix for the screen flashes.

I did run the patches. Sorry about the comparison to 2013. The screen stops flashing when I minimize it. So at least I can continue to work without it flickering.
