AutoCAD 2016 randomly closing and not saving all open files when one file is closed

Good Afternoon AutoCAD forum,

My version of AutoCAD Architectural 2016 has started to randomly shutting down, closing all open files without the opportunity to save, when I close one of the open files (either by clicking the 'X' for that file or by typing 'close' in the command line).  It does not happen all the time, but enough that I am losing information or having to recover from the savetime file too often.

From my research I believe this shutdown can be traced to a particular DLL file that is related to my AMD FirePro W2100 graphics card and associated drivers, but really, I am not super savvy beyond this info so now I am at a loss.

I found under some other forum advice sections that I can pull information about the shut-down from Windows Event Viewer.  Here is the information that provided:

Faulting application name: acad.exe, version: 26.1.107.0, time stamp: 0x55f64429
Faulting module name: atidxx64.dll, version: 27.20.1027.2005, time stamp: 0x5f0649b0
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x0000000000a594a9
Faulting process id: 0x5644
Faulting application start time: 0x01d674d916ab9dc1
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\acad.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\u0357781.inf_amd64_f80b7dfe0f13bacb\B357464\atidxx64.dll
Report Id: b24cdab1-57e5-4f66-9141-ee7ac40d1588
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Best way to do is reset to default, many times this type of crash is from Windows updates.

Do you mean reset AutoCAD to defaults, should I back-up the cuix file to re-establish the customized stuff, or would that just bring the issue back with it?

Save your customized files and put back after reset.

Also check to ensure you have the 2016.1 update installed: ABOUT command will confirm it.

I have AutoCAD Architecture 2016 SP1

Is that correct?

that's correct for ACA2016

You might also try rolling back your graphics card driver and see if that helps.
