AutoCAD 2016 Data Extract not working with Excel 2016

When my data is output to an external .xls excel file it only has the word "Deleteme" in the A1 cell.   I have not changed anything and it just worked a couple days ago.   Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same issue....

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/deleteme-error-in-autocad-with-excel/td-p/7452909

It appears to be related to a Microsoft update released in September from what I've been able to track it down too...

Maybe @john.vellek can chime in and get more push going on this issue.

HI @mosness,

Are you using Windows 10? I found that removing Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4041676) from my system allowed me to create the extraction and export to Excel properly. Can you try this on your side and let me know how it performs for you?

For future reference - Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4041691) is another known update that caused this issue on my machine.  Thanks John!

I will try to remove KB4041681 for Win7 with a customer with same issue an post the result here tomorrow.
Thanks all

2002 or 2004? Since eattext works and later dataextract the same delete.me issue appears if an apostroph is in pathname of exported *.xls
Is there no solution for Adesk for this known problem?

And NO, I never use Apostrophs in path or Filenames.

My IT staff just let me know that these appear to be two botched updates from Microsoft released in October.  Thanks again John and everyone else for the help

HI @cadffm,

From what I am reading on the Internet, the apostrophe is a disallowed character in many file systems as it is a command argument grouping delimiter in Unix, Linux and other operating systems.

Still with Microsoft filesystems too, invalid shoult only  < > ? " : | \ / *

You can use 'Apostrophs in pathnames normally and Eattext/dataextract create the xls file,

but only with value "'DeleteMe" in cell A1.

I would say, since 15years, every Version, eattext and dataextract (but i dont have all versions for clarify my statement)

(now tested with my local NTFS formated ssd, Win8.1 / without the current Updates, so it only appears if an Apostroph is in pathname)

For me personally no problem, apostrophes in file- and pathnames belong punished Smiley LOL , but it is not right because ' is a valid char.

thanks

Sebastian
