Greetings, i purchased autocad 2015 perpetual license. I bought 2022 laptop. Autocad 2015 won't work because of Windows 11? What happens to my license now that I can't use 2015? I need Autocad for work, plus to open and work on my files.

Please advise..thank you.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

here are your options:

1) talk to a nearby local Autodesk reseller to see if there's any legacy deals to upgrade your out of date & no longer supported 2015 version to the latest subscription version.

2) look on ebay for an older laptop that comes with an operating system that allows you to install & run the 2015 version

3) downgrade your new 2022 laptop's operating system so you can again install & run the 2015 version

@pendean  said it well on this POST

Also, be aware of the AutoCAD System Requirements before buying a laptop:

Consider upgrading, which is what Autodesk "perpetually" wants you to do. 🙂

Keep your old laptop and dedicate it to running AutoCad. Put antivirus software on it. Don't do online banking on it.

I am surprised that you can't install your AutoCad software in compatibility mode in Windows 11 Pro.

From the wording of the OP, it sounds like the purchase of the license was recent. I guess it's open for interpretation.

I  appreciate everyone's  responses. I can see where my OP  was not clear. So yes, I purchased perpetual license back in 2015 along with a new (at the time ) 2015 laptop.

thank you everyone, I think the best bet is to keep old  laptop, use it strictly for AutoCad 2015...

you can look into a VM. This isn't the most elegant solution and I'm not certain what license restrictions are in place for this kind of thing, but we support quite a few clients with older software and OS's. We don't do this with autodesk software but we do support automation systems and those things can be pretty old. When we encounter this type of thing with our clients we often install a VM so that we can use the version of the software they use.
