AutoCAD 2015 is messing up the layers with sections of my drawing.

Me and my colleagues updated our Autocad Suite from 2013 to 2015 this week. So far everything looked fine, but I found a bug that compromises the workflow we currently have here.

I have tested this problem both in Autocad 2015 and Autocad Architecture 2015 in German, both of them being in the SP1.

___

I have different 3D volumes, each of them in a different layer. The layer of each one has a different color.

I wanted to create three sections, and then paste the section as block. I have already worked in this drawing in Autocad 2013, where I was creating the block with the following properties.

(Sorry for the German version, I hope you understand which tooI am currently using).

section propierties.PNG

Here I am saying to Autocad that the section lines must be named z_SCHNITT_NAMEFROMLAYER and the lines in the background should be named z_SCHNITT_hintegrund_NAMEFROMLAYER.

When I did this in Autocad 2013, the program automatically used to draw the cut objects and objects in the ground in new separate layers.

However, this feature is not working anymore.

Here is how a section looked like before:

And how it looks now (if I use the same tool, with the same properties).

02.PNG

Although I chose to create new layers for the background bodies, Autocad 2015 is incorrectly drawing all the background drawing under one layer (which corresponds not to the one the layer of the original object).

I will upload the .dwg file with the objects I wanted to cut and a section already pasted as a block.

Can anyone lend us a hand with this problem?

I am experiencing the same thing in AutoCAD Map3D 2015!!! It is very frustrating when it happens. I think it is a setting on my machine because if one of my coworkers does the same thing on the same drawing on his computer it works fine. When I then open the same drawing and use the section cuts he made it works for me but if I try to make the cut it doesn't work!

Someone please point me to what is wrong here!

I am having problems NOT with the objects I cut through, but the layers that are in the background.

The layers in the background are not being set in the correct custom layers. I get all the layers messed up instead. I look forward to an answer.

This problem is therefore NOT SOLVED

My issue is making everything (background or intersected solids) being put on one random layer which thus does not allow me to vary line thicknesses, color, etc because everything is now on one layer. It must be a setting within my machine because one of my coworkers can create new section cuts for me on his machine and then I can (re)create my sections using his section lines and it works.... for awhile.

Today I went back into the drawing that I had to pretty much redo and I am back to where I started.... everything on the same layer. I can't keep recreating this drawing!

HELP!!!!!!!

Same thing in autocad 2016
When opening a saved drawing in autocad 2014 lines are in the correct layers. When opening in autocad 2016 all backgroundlines (and probably sectionlines) are placed in 1 layer.

Hello mkbastida and welcome to the Forums!

I have tried your drawing in both AutoCAD 2015 SP2, and AutoCAD 2016 SP1.

In 2015 SP2 it did not work as designed until I installed the following Hotfix:

Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2015 SP2 SECTIONPLANE LayerByObject Hotfix

The instructions for replacing the .DLL file that is the fix are in the ReadMe file that you will find on that page.

AutoCAD 2016 worked correctly. You will want to make sure that you have Service Pack 1 installed. If not, you can download it here:

AutoCAD 2016 Service Pack 1

Please let me know if you have any problems with the download/replacement or the install of the SP.
