As desinged? Why? So if we need to reference an old file, we have to go open a whole other application?  That is stupid.   In a few years are our older files just lost?

I was kidding about the as designed, that just seem to be autodesk standard answer when they don't want to admit 2015 is messed up

I gotcha.   Hopefully someone has an answer, in another post months ago about a Revit 2015 problem, I was basically told to cross my fingers and hope that it is fixed for 2016.  Good thing this stuff is cheap!

Since we open old files all day long in R2015, could it be something like the need to use RECOVER instead of OPEN can fix it? Start with XREFs then go up to the top file (if you can't use RECOVERALL command).
Otherwise, any change you can share just a DWG file that freezes R2015?

there are not xrefs affiliated with the file I am in. When I do a recoverall command, it gets hung up and says:

"illegal recursion in shape 54".

I have narrowed the problem down to a text style and shape, attached is a file with the text in it that crashes 2015, but opens fine in 2014.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

not sure what you just said, but i have confirmed only the computers that have installed Service Pack 2 for 2015 have this problem.  This is infuriating!  We will not do any more upgrades or R2 for our projects.  Autodesk needs to release stuff every other year and get things right!!!

this is also affecting our current projects, and screwing up fonts on current projects, see attached.

Again, only computers that have installed Service Pack 2 for 2015 have this problem.

1. You are talking to fellow end users, this is not Autodesk tech support. Are you on subscription? Then you have paid support there from Autodesk.

2. Your file doesn't open here in R2014 or R2015. Not sure what else needs to be said.

3. Looks like your file is in R2010 format: I opened it in R2012, purged and removed the proxy object reference in it. Then R2015's RECOVER command reported 11 errors through RECOVER command and it still would not open it up. R2015 here is only SP1.

4. Remove SP2 if that's the only commone thread you have for error testing and see if that helps. Current end-user advice (that's us) is to not install SP2.

Yes we have thought of uninstalling the service pack and it works, but typically we will want to install a service pack to "fix" the bugs that the new versions undoubtedly will bring us every year.  It is just not a very warm and fuzzy feeling to know we may not have the service packs as help.  If there is no other solution, I have to make sure 25 users have uninstalled the service pack.

Thanks for your help!  I rarely submit a suport request straight to Autodesk anymore.  With these forums, you get both Autodesk suport and other users to help out.

Autodesk will be looking at this at some point just like previous posts I have done on this forum, in fact, Saturday they sent an email inquiring about this issue.  So Autodesk will see this, I promise.

So the file doesn't open in either version on your end.  That is interesting, not sure why that is, it opens fine for us and our clients (without service pack 2 installed).  I guess we will uninstall the service packs on our computers for now.

Thanks for trying

Sadly, I think SP2 for 2015 adds more bugs based on user input and Autodesk's lame responses to date with "work-arounds" for some of the newer issues.

if you are on subscription, log in the problem: they monitor subscription support requests/issues and give it priority over all other sources.

Autodesk is aware of this issue, and we are looking into possible solutions. There are two articles that may help to resolve this for you in the meantime. Please take a look at the links below:
