Autocad 2014 on Windows 10

Hello,

Recently Bill Gates decided that windows 10 is better for me, so the OS upgraded from 7 to 10. my Autocad 2014 continue running fine except the command BASE that replies "Inventor server failed to load". (at least for now this is the only problem).

Is there any hotfix for that issue considering that I don't or can't upgrade my Autocad? expecting autodesk support 2 years old software.

The following AutoCAD versions have also been tested in Windows 10.

Autodesk product versions of 2012 and earlier are no longer supported and are not included in considerations of Windows 10 compatibility.The 2013–2014 versions of AutoCAD products will not be supported on Windows 10 as well. There are several post's in the forums similar to yours. 

I have included a link for one that has been viewed over 8815 times. There are a few workarounds that you could try that other community members have suggested. The forum thread is here.

As a test you could try uninstalling and reinstalling your Microsoft C++ and take a look at this AKN Article which talks about the .NET issue Windows 10 and AutoCAD have had. . 

I am sure others will be posting shortly with their suggestions. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You should also have a time period in which you can revert to Win 7 (unless they have revoked this too...)

I can revert or reinstall Windows 7 but in a year or so Microsoft will stop supporting that OS and won't send security updates causing big hackers and virus hazards as happened with XP.

Then I guess you are upgrading AutoCAD to work with Win10... .
Or roll back to Win7, enjoy the free ride for a year or more as you save up to purchase a new PC designed for Win10 specifically and upgrade to a newer AutoCAD version then too.

We can't really expect Autodesk to go back and retrofit 3+ (not 2) year old software to work with an operating system that was 2 years away from being released at the time.

Actually I do expect, 2 or 3 years are not too long ago, it is not that autocad stopped working completely, it's just a small issue but a big deal for drafting.

There is nobody here is the forums that can make anything happen. We are users just like you. The few Autodesk employees that post here are not in a position to have any effect on things such as you are asking.

2014 is not going to be supported on Win10, period. You can complain all you want, it's not going to happen. Find an alternative product, downgrade your O/S, upgrade your AutoCAD, or live with the issues of using 2014 on Win10.

That's about your only choices.

AUTO CAD 2014 does work on Win10.

The reason you failed to install is because your computer lost a file.

So, check for the installation log on the FAILED page.

Scroll down to the list, usually the installation stopped at the point of "Microsoft C++".

GOOGLE the file (Microsoft C++ ) you need, DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL IT in your computer.

Then, restart the installation.

I had tried the REGEDIT, or whatever people told me to do. They are all failed!

SO, make sure you check your installation log, see what's the issue there.

Yes, AutoCAD 2014 will not work on Windows 10....

I tried Installing it on my New Laptop, but unsuccessful.....

And it's always better to work on an Updated software....... So, I suggest you that you work with a Version 2018 or above...... I know There might not be major changes, but its better to be updated....

I've installed Autodesk Building Design Suite Standard 2015, that include Autocad 2015 on Windows 10 build 19042.630 - and it works as it should be. Haven't tried 2014.

May not matter here. But just a little feedback for AutoDesk from an Autocad user of 30 years..... I use AcadLt 2014 on a Windows 10 computer, no problem, but I think I installed it on Windows 7 then upgraded the computer to 10. Now trying to install my copy of AcadLT 14 on a new Windows 10 computer - it won't work. IF I could purchase a perpetual version of Autocad that would work with windows 10, I would. But I'm not being hoodwinked into AutoCad's ****ty subscription model. There really hasn't been any new features that significantly help production introduced in the last 15 years that warrant any need for constant updates - it's simply a ploy to increase Autodesk's revenue. Time to move to different production software....unless, Autodesk, you want to sell me some software with perpetual licensing?

Well, I think you know the latter is not happening, so the former is your only choice.
